Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use the Blockworks Long Beach Concrete & Masonry website, ask us for an estimate or hire us to do work at your house. By using the site or booking a job with us, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us.
Every job also gets its own written estimate or contract. Where that document says something different from these terms, the document for your job controls.
What we do
Blockworks Long Beach Concrete & Masonry is a masonry contractor in Long Beach, CA. We do brick, block, stone and concrete work for homeowners in Long Beach and the cities around it. The services and cities listed on our home page and our About page show the work we usually take on. They aren't a promise that we can do every job we're asked about.
We're licensed and fully insured. The descriptions, photos and examples on this site are general information about the trade, not advice for your house, because we can't judge a wall, footing or chimney without seeing it. The work we'll do on your job is the work written in your estimate or contract.
Estimates and pricing
Our estimates are free, done in person and carry no obligation. We come out first because access, the condition of the existing masonry, the soil and the materials you choose all change the price.
An estimate covers what we can see before work starts. If we open up a wall, footing or chimney and find hidden damage or conditions that are different from what we expected, we'll stop, show you what we found and get your approval in writing before we do extra work or charge more.
An estimate's price holds for the period written on it. After that, we may need to recheck material costs before we start. Any cost information elsewhere on this website is general and isn't a quote for your job.
Scheduling and cancellation
We set a start date once you accept the estimate. Weather, material deliveries, permit and inspection timing, and earlier jobs running long can move that date, and we'll tell you as soon as we know.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (562) 257-3026 as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered special-order materials or started work, you pay for the materials bought for your job and the work done up to that point, as your contract sets out. Any cancellation rights the law gives you still apply.
Your part of the job
You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area, water and power where the job needs them, and to tell us about anything we can't see, like buried lines, sprinkler pipes or property line questions. Problems that come from information we weren't given aren't our responsibility, and fixing them may add to the cost.
Payment
Any deposit and the payment schedule for your job are written in your contract before work begins. Unless your contract says otherwise, final payment is due when the work is complete and we've walked the finished job with you.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's paid. We keep any rights the law gives contractors to be paid for work they've done.
Our guarantee and warranty limits
Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. If something we built isn't right because of our workmanship, call us and we'll come look at it and make it right. Any written warranty for your job is the one in your contract, and materials like brick, block, pavers, stone and mortar carry their own makers' warranties where they have one.
Apart from what's written in your contract, and as far as the law allows, we don't give any other warranties, stated or implied. Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, such as earthquakes, ground movement, tree roots, drainage problems we weren't hired to fix, misuse, or changes someone else makes later.
Natural stone and brick vary in color and texture, and fine hairline cracks in concrete and mortar are normal as they cure and settle. Neither is a defect on its own.
This website is provided as is. We try to keep it accurate and available, but we don't promise it's free of errors or always online.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses connected to our work or this website, such as lost use of your property or lost income. Our total liability for a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't let a business limit, such as liability for injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
If something goes wrong
If you're unhappy with anything, tell us first. Call (562) 257-3026 or reach us through our Contact page, and we'll work it out with you directly, because most problems get settled that way.
If we can't settle it together, either of us may take the matter to small claims court where it qualifies, or to the state courts in Los Angeles County, California.
Which law applies
These terms, your use of this website and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time by posting a new version on this page. The version posted when you sign your contract applies to that job. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
Questions about these terms
If anything here isn't clear, call us at (562) 257-3026 or send us a note through our Contact page, and we'll explain it before you book any work.
